Ancient care for the body that gave life

The postpartum period is one of the most powerful, and most vulnerable, transitions in a woman's life. After birth, the body is open, the womb is healing, and the nervous system is recalibrating.

This session is designed specifically to honor the postpartum body, helping the womb, pelvis, and abdomen return to a place of balance, warmth, and support. It is not just bodywork.

Why it matters

Why postpartum womb care matters

After birth, the uterus leaves behind a large internal wound where the placenta detached. The organs have shifted. The pelvis has opened. The body is often cold, depleted, and emotionally tender.

In traditional cultures, this is when women were held, wrapped, warmed, and cared for, not rushed back into productivity. This massage supports that missing layer of care.

This session is ideal for women experiencing

Emptiness or heaviness

A feeling of emptiness, heaviness, or instability in the lower abdomen.

Pelvic pressure

Pelvic pressure, hip or lower back discomfort after birth.

Emotional sensitivity

Overwhelm, emotional sensitivity, or disconnection from the body.

C-section recovery

Support after a C-section, once you have medical clearance.

Digestive tension

Postpartum bloating, sluggish digestion, or abdominal tension.

A need to be closed

A desire to feel closed, contained, and grounded after birth.

What your session includes

Slow, intentional, and adapted to where your body is in its healing. Nothing is forced. Your body leads.

Step 1:

Postpartum intake

A wellness assessment of where you are in your recovery, so the session is built around your timeline.

Step 2:

Womb and abdominal massage

Therapeutic work with warming oils, focused on the uterus and surrounding organs, plus a gentle lower back and hip release.

Step 3:

Supportive uterine alignment

Applied only when appropriate. Deep uterine manipulation is avoided in early postpartum.

Step 4:

Rebozo Manteado

The Closing of the Bones ceremony, a sacred wrapping ritual using rebozos to honor your transition and restore containment in the body.

Step 5:

Herbal abdominal compress

Warming, to encourage circulation and comfort, when indicated.

Step 6:

A postpartum faja to take home

One postpartum faja (girdle) is provided and fitted at the end of the session, along with personalised aftercare guidance.

Eligibility

Who can receive this service

This service is intended for women who are:

  • 8 or more weeks postpartum after a C-section, with medical clearance
  • Months or even years postpartum and never received postpartum care
  • Postpartum after miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy loss

Many women come months or years later saying "I never closed after my birth." It is never too late.

Answers to all your questions

How soon after birth can I receive this massage?

For vaginal births, this session is recommended after 6 to 7 weeks postpartum, once bleeding has stopped. For C-section births, we recommend 8 or more weeks postpartum with medical clearance. If you are unsure, we are happy to guide you.

I gave birth months or even years ago. Is this still for me?

Yes. Many women never received proper postpartum care. This session is appropriate months or even years after birth if you feel your body never fully closed or returned to balance.

Can I receive this massage if I am on my period?

We recommend waiting until your period has ended, as the womb is already in a state of release. The massage is most effective when the uterus is not actively shedding.

How is this different from a regular Mayan womb massage?

The postpartum session is slower, gentler, and focused on recovery, warmth, and closure. It prioritises nervous system support and postpartum healing rather than deeper uterine manipulation.

Is this safe after a C-section?

Yes, after sufficient healing and medical clearance. The work is adapted to support the body gently and respectfully, avoiding direct pressure on healing areas.

What if I had a miscarriage or pregnancy loss?

For miscarriage or pregnancy loss, we recommend the Mayan Womb Massage rather than the postpartum session. It allows the body to receive womb-centered support appropriate for that experience.

Does it include herbs or teas?

No. This session does not include herbal remedies, teas, or supplements. It is strictly bodywork. Herbal support is available as a separate consultation.

Can I receive this if I am breastfeeding?

Yes. This session is safe for breastfeeding mothers.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear comfortable clothing. You will be partially undressed for the abdominal work, with proper draping, and the girdle is fitted over clothing at the end. Please bring a pair of socks and a sweater to keep your body warm and supported during and after the session.

What if I am unsure which massage to book?

If you are postpartum, or feel your body never fully closed after birth, this session is usually the best choice. You are also welcome to contact us for guidance.
